<A> The Examinacions of Capt: Hugh Kelly taken beefore vs this 3d day of May 1653 liuein at Muckinagh
Sayth That about Midsumer last 1650 th hee the Said Capt: Kelly did meete with One Garrett Dyllon of [ ] Drin sin att the townes End of Muckinagh [ ] Muckinaghs In the County of Roscomon Gallawa{y} driueinge of A Cowe beefore him which when the Said Capt Kelley did perceiued the Said Cowe demanded of the Said Garott Dyllon Howe hee Came by the Same Cowe the Said Garrett Dyllon Replied that hee had the Same Cowe from one Rory boy O Kelley that hee owed him the Said Garrett twenty Shillinges And after Some discourse had betweene the Said Capt Kelley and the Said Garrett Dyllon the Said Capt Kelley Sayth that the Said Garrett was Stealinge the Said Cowe away without any order vpon which the Said Capt Kelley tould him the Said Garrett that hee should goe with him the Said Capt. to the Irish Campe and to Aunsweare for his Soe doeinge whoe Replied that hee would not goe with him vpon that the said Capt: Kelley Sayd that hee should and noe thankes to him and vpon that drewe his Sword but beeinge demanded why hee the Said Capt Kelley drewe his Sword Sayth that it was frighten the Said Garrett Dyllon that hee might Leaue the said Cowe beehind And sayth that the Said Garrett Dyllon had come vpon the Said Capt: Kelley for to take his Sword away the Said Capt: goeinge three or foure Steps backward for to Shunn the Said Garrett the Said Garret{t} still pressinge vpon the Said Capt: And Rann himselfe vpon the Said Capt: Sword and Run himselfe him In the betweene the Ribbs and Sayth that this was donne after Dinner and the Said Garrett dyed beefore Night And beeinge demanded why what weapons the Said Garrett Dyllon had hee Sayth that hee had a Skene and that it hanged behind the Said Garretts backe & the said Garrett did putt his hand beehind his backe for the drawe his Skeene but did not draw it And further Sayth not
