The Examinacion of Capt Andrew ô Adaire taken before Samuell Nicholas Esquire & Capt Arthur Gore esquire two of the Justices of Peace for the Prouince of Connaght
The said Examinant being duely sworn & Examened sayth, that vppon the quarter of Beleck in the Barony of Tirawly in the County of Mayo, the 10th of Jan: 1641 or there abouts, he this Examinant, together with Sir Robert Hany, & about six score persons man woman & cheildren going ouer the Riuer of Moyn, co m ming towards Castle Conor, and from thence to Inisstrohin where they mett with Charles ô Dowd of Balitothe & his son Patrick <A> with three score or fowerscore men, whoe treathned to kill this examinant, & all his Company, whoe d with Sir Robertt Hana & some of the rest of his Company did with difficulty escape but the remaynder of the persons whoe came with this Examinant from Beleck were at that tyme slaine in the said Barony, but by whom he this deponent Canot tell but verylie beleeueth, that they were killed, by the said Charles d or Patrick or some of their Companyes And further sayth that comeing along to Ardneglass whoe from whence this deponent & Sir Robert Hana were brought prissoners to Drumahere in the County <B> of Leitrim by Bryan & Rory McPhelomy both sons in law to Owen ô Rourk to be exchanged for two p r of the Rowerkes prissoners at Manerhamelton [ ] which was denyed them, at which Drumeheare, there were two Ministers, by name Mr William Listan Mr Thomas fulerton & Patrick Drumont gentlemen, who were sent tyed from Drumheare aforesaid, to the Campe at Manerhamelton by some of the souldiers of the Garrisson of Drumheare then vnder the Comaund of Owen ô Rourk, where the said three persons were executed but by whom or by whose order they were executed he knoweth not:
