The Examinacions of Edw: Elwood about the Murther at Shrewle taken before the Commissioners of Reuenue at Gallway October 1st 1652
Who being duely sworne deposeth that in the yeere 1641 what month this deponent remembreth not William Burk of Ballisnyhea came in the begining of the Rebellion accompanaied himself <A> with seuerall persons then in rebellion who robbed and plundered the English & amongst others this deponents vnckl with whome he then liued (and that h this deponent) was then Robbed of Thirty two English Cowes which this deponent following the said goods to a Randizuous where this William Burk was present together with them that tooke the goods. this deponent further saith that before all [ ] that yeare vppon the fryday or Saterday before the Murther was Committed (it being Committed the Sunday after) he saw the said William Bourk in the head of some men in Armes appoynted as he heard for the Conduct of the English, by the Lord of Mayo but heard from his seruants that the said William had Rings & Jewells belonging to the Bishopp of Killalla & others of the English who were Murthered or desperately wounded there and further saith not
