The examinacion of Mary Brabazon of Calastowne in the County of Lowth aged 26 yeares or there abouts taken before vs the 24th of ffebruary 1652 whose names are vnder written
Whoe beinge duely sworne & examined saith that on the 25th of October 1641 Sir Phelim o Neale came before the towne of Armagh with a greate multitude of Rebells his followers and there beinge in the said towne as well Inhabitants as others which repayred <A> thither, a good number English & British whoe stood on theire defence in the Church & towne the said Sir Phelim sent to treate as the examinant understood with the said English and British and there vpon some of the Inhabitants went out to make Conditions for themselues and the rest And att theire returne as the examinant vnderstood from one of them which was vncle vnto the examinant & then the Soueraigne of the towne of Armagh The conditions were that all the Inhabitants of the said towne should bee preserued in their liues & goods and that the sayd Sir Phelim alleadged that what he did was for the kings service and that he had a Commission for his doeinge what he did, and there vpon shewed her vncle the Soueraigne as her vncle reported a greate seale And further the examinant saith that att May <B> next followinge the said Sir Phelim repayred againe vnto the sayd towne of Armagh with many of his followers attendinge him & then caused the said towne to be sett on fire & then caused to bee carryed aboute forty or fifty men vnto Charlemounte and there as the examinant vnderstood they were all murdered
