The Examination of John Taylor Aged about 30 yeares being duely sworne saith
That being an Inhabitant in Tanderagee at the begining of the Rebelion, was kept there by fforce in the said Towne with many more, both English, & Scotts till about May ffollowing, Butt vpon the march of the Brittish Army towards Nury, the Irish then in & about Tanderagee, Caused all the prisoners to bee Gathered to geather & to the <A> Constables howse of the said towne from which place they was Carryed away about a mile to the Riuer & there was stript naked, knocked on the head & throwne in to the River all both men weomen & Children The Cheeife Actors in this Bloody massacre was, Collonell Edmond Cogg e ô Hanlan Gouernor of Tanderagee & his 3 Brothers, Patt: oge ô Hanlan since slaine, Ardell oge: ô Hanlan since dead likewise, & ffurdorrah ô Hanlan, with there souldiers
And that william mc Toole was as this Examinat heard, one of the Actors, the Clothes of the murdered being brought to his howse the most part of them, & there was devided. And further saith not that hee was an Eye wittness of the devideing of the Clothes at the said william mc Tooles Howse & further sath not
