The examinacion of Patt: o Sheale of Boddin in Com Downe aged fourty six yeares or thereabouts taken vpon oath 8 June 1653
Who saith that he liued at the begining of the Rebellion within fiue mile of Newcastle vnder Sir Con Maginis & about the Christmas following this examinant came to the house of the said New Castle wherein Lieutenant Hugh Treuor John Weston & Mr Touch of Newry with seuerall other English (whose names he remembers not) were kept prisoners there by Sir Con <A> Maginis order who was Gouernor there & the said Lieutenant Treuor was from thence to be sent [ ab ] to one William mc Kellyes house betwixt Newcastle & Lisnegaruy & from thence to be conueyed to Lisnegaruy aforesaid to be exchanged for the said William mc Kellyes sonne who was kept prisoner, l for which cause the said Sir Con sent this examinant to one Brian mc Art mc Ross Magenis Edm: oge mc Hugh mc Phill: Maginis Donell mc Glasny roe Maginis to speak vnto them that they should conuey the said Leiutenant Treuor to William mc Kellyes house aforesaid but they excused themselues by saying that they had occasions to goe vnto other places about greater occasions of greater concernment & that they had <B> not men at present to goe along with him soe that they did not goe & afte therefore Sir Con aforesaid gaue orders vnto other men vizt Donell Magin Patt: Roe Magin Glasny mc Edm: mc Hugh Maginis Donell makengrian Brian mc Rory & Owen O Grimly (who are all since dead as this examinant alleages beleeues as that they should guard Lieutenant Treuor to the place aforesaid & this examinant saith that he heard it reported that the said Lieutenant Treuor was with his wife & children & the said John Weston were caried away by from newcastle by the said Don: Magin &c & saith that the rest of the English left behind were hanged by one Con o Donell with a party of the Irish Soldiers assisting him by orders from the said Sir Con as this examinant heard it comonly repoted & with further that he heard by a comon report that <D> the said Lieutenant Treuor with his wife & children & the said John Weston were kild in the pace of Dundrum by the said Don: Magin Hugh Magin Patt Mag{in}
