The Examination of Thomas Dixon nowe prisoner taken before vs at Carrickfergus the 27th day of May 1653
Who sayth that before the rebellion hee knewe Cormack mc Guire that was killed at Ardglas, but neuer saw him sence the rebellion This examinent saith hee did neuer heare that the said Cormick was protected, nor knowes by whom the said Cormick was kild onely hee saith that he this examinent being that day that Cormick was killed at Ardglas hee saw Cornet John Johnson & <A> two troopers with him, whereof one was called Raph Reade with their swords following the said Cormick, who had beene in rebellion, and ouer takeing him, the said Cormick was then slayne but by which of them, or how hee was killed hee knowes not. And saith that hee this Examinent was not hee nor any of them that killd the said Cormick, nor that he euer tooke any monyes out of his pocketts
Hee confesseth that the said Cornet Johnson and the two troopers being afterwards in one ffrancis Keethes house in Ardglass, this Examinent went to them and stayed some short time with them drinking. And saith that true it is, that some one of the towne of Ardglasse came into that house where they were drinking, and said in the hearing of this Examine that they were this day about an act, but the party or rebell that they were a killing, is yet aliue, and nothing aileth him wherevpon one of thos in Company, as this Examinent thinks Raph Read went suddenly from them, and as this examinent heard related hee went to the place where the said Cormick lay wounded and there killed him outright: And he this Examinent denyes, that hee had any of the said Cormick{s} cloaths. And further saith not
