The examinacion of Jennett Neaven als Wallace of the Parish of Billy Widdow taken 9o March 1652
<50:> Who being duely sworne & examined saith That about three daies after the Murder at Portnaw The Irish Rebells marched through the Parish of Billy towards Ballentoy That this Examinante with her young Child fledd vnto a Moore together with another poore woeman for safety of their lives that in the Irish rebells March through the said parish they murdred all the Brittish they could lay handes on & amongst maney others this Examinantes father & Mother & brother That Allester McColl McDonnell & John Mortimer did lead on & were in the Company of the said Irish who murdred the Brittish & that John Mortimer rid that day vpon a blacke <A> horse haveing a paire of trowses on That after she this Examinante had layne in the said Moore two nights & two dayes she this Examinant & her Child being ready to starue left the Moore & by providence one McNeile (since dead) saved her life that the third day after her father & Mother & brother & many more brittish were killd she came vnto Monnister in Dirrikighan parish where she heard from the Irish & Highlanders there that her brother John Neaven the night before was murdred by one Anthony Loggan who tooke him out of Tirlagh McRichard รด Cahans house, which Anthony is yet liveing in Derrikighan parish And further saith not
