The examinacion and Informacion of Thomas ffullton taken the 6th of May 1653 att Carrickfergus
Who saith: that att the begininge of the Late Rebellyon, Michell Doyne sent for this examinats ffather, and willed him to bringe his Cattell to his Land, and he would Looke vnto them, and secure them as his owne this the examinate hadd in relacion from his ffather, and nott otherwaies knowne to him After Wherevpon the this examinates said ffather brought back his Cattell from Belfast, and accordinge to the said encorradgment from Michell Doyne, settled them at his owne house being part of Michell Doynes Land then held from him by Humphreye Sexton, presentlie after the returne of the said Cattell came certaine Irishe and tooke them all awaie from the examinates ffather, which the said Humphreye vnderstandinge he with this Examinate, and others of Michell Doynes tennants went where the cattell were, and recouered them back, and left them at Michells Doynes house, soone after this, the said Michell Doyne repayred to Carrickfergus, and there made knowne that if anie man hadd cattell amongest his, or on his ground that they should Laye clayme vnto them, and possess themselves of there owne, wherevppon as by a warning the examinates ffather tooke awaie his & carried them to his owne house, and the next Morninge goinge to drive them towards Bellfast againe, Shane Roe o Quine and others in his Companie ouertooke them and carried them all awaie which were neuer since recoured and further this examinant saith not & pursued those for the [ ] examina te & other s for their liues but the next day this examinates ffather John ffulton went in Company of James Hamilton and about 50 Scotts men towards Mr Michaell Doyns house to recouer the said Cattle where a party of the Irish after some parley fell vpon them & kild this examinates said ffather and about 16 more & wounded others & tooke the said James Hamilton prissoner but who of the Irish was there this examinante doth not remember except the said Shane Roe o Q uin & Tur lo o Hayre & Cahme o Hayre & further saith not.
