The Examination of Keane Hara of Ballinderry in Killulta In the County of Antrim Yeoman adged 60 yeares or thereabouts, taken before vs the 31 of Maj 1653
Who being sworne and Examined saith that on the Lords day in the morning in December after the breakeing out of the Rebellion, Sir Phellemy O Neile with his partie, came towards Lisnegaruy at which time many of the Ireish Inhabitants of the Quarters of Killileagh and Killanakevett and others thereabouts came in a body towars Mr Michael Doynes house, where they met with a partie of Scotts, plundering the Country in which Action the Ireish would haue opposed them & of them this Examinet being one haueing a warrant from Collonell Chichester, and others the Commissioners at Carrickfergus, that the Countrey should not stirr, or make any riseing till orders were sent, which this Examinet declared vnto them all, but was preuailed not, And saith that hee this Examinet rideing two and fro betweene them, saw one Michaell Powell who was stobed by an Ireish man with a skeine, who being soe wounded, caused him to bee put in a house, which wa{s} all the hurt hee saw done among them, And saith that hee this Examinet, hasteing to Michaell Doynes house, to allay the difference, Mr Doyne was gon to Glenavy, to speak to Mr Stotesbury a papist, and saith, that hee did not see nor knowe the Ireish man, that stobd Powell, onely heard, hee was of the partie of Ireish, And saith that hee did not see John ffulton that day, but saith that hee was since tould by John ffulton his son, that his father was killed there that day, And saith that before hee returned from Mr Doynes to the place where hee left the Ireish and Scotts skirmishing, they were all parted thence. And further saith not./
