The examinacion of Jennet adohertie wife to Phel{im} adohertie of Glanree in the Barrony of Kilmckrenan and <symbol> County of donnegall, being taken before me Sir George St. George knight at Castledoe, the last of September 1652 by vertu{e} of an order from the Honorable Collonell Robert venables and Collonell Tho: Newburgh:
Whoe being duely sworne vpon the holy Evangellist saith that shee being in Mr Robert Akins house with her husband where they then liued about the Candlemas after that these warres began, there came som{e} men to that house after their first sleepe in the night, and called earnestly to come in Mr Robert Akin himselfe rose out of his be{d &} opened the doore, and let them in, where presently entred Collon{ell} Miles mc Swine Manus mc Knogher Donnell mc Gillabreede, and do{ } <A> mc Garvey, Bryane reagh oferry & Neall o donnell, vpon theire co{ } in, in such a manner, John Akins, demaunded of them what they { } haue, some of them, this deponent knowing not which, said they would { } money presently another who shee thinkes was Manus o knoher, { }ered they would haue liues and money, afterwards when they had { } them all, Robert, Marcus, John and the servant Robert Boha{ } put on theire Clothes, they carryed them out of the dwelling ho{use} into the barne, this deponent and her husband, being in theire o{ } an vper Chamber in the house sawe not further what they { } after, a little while after Collonell mc Swine came into the cham{ber} this deponent where this deponent laye and sate downe at the{ir} side, and tould this deponent and her husband that those compan{ions} that were with him had hanged vp Marcus Akin, which he tho{ught} at first they had done it in a Jest, but seeing the man gre{w} black in the face and supposeing he drew neere death, he dre{w} out his swoard and cut him downe, and desired them all as he to{ld} <B> this deponent, that they would forbeare to kill any of them, wh{ere} vpon they tooke him by the shoulders and tould him, he was a faint hearted fellow and thurst him out of the doores, from whence he came to this deponents lodging as aforesaid and stayed still till faire day in the Morneing, This deponent further sayeth that after the murthers had dispatcht theire murther, they cam{e} into Mr Akins house againe, and one of them Manus McKno{gher} haueing a longe skeane in his hand his Arme being blooddy vp { } the elbow, he sate downe and called for drinke, then he and th{e} rest of his fellowes were cracking and braging of what th{ey} had done, and sayed that Collonell mc Swine was but a faint heart{ed}

Hearted cowardly fell o man, and they had thrust him out of the dooers from amoungst them, for he would not haue had them killed the men and further this deponent sayeth not,
