The examynacion of George Davys takene vppon othe by mee
This examinett being a dweller herin Dublin since Lent Last past and having some stock of cattle and other goods and monyes due to him in the Com of Roscomman where this examynett did dwell before his coming he there to Dublin vppon the begining of this Rebellious Inserection took his Jorny towards the said Com of Roscomman in hope to haue secured his said cattle, goods & debts in his way he there meett Sir James Dillon the yonger in Ballymore accompayned with Henry Dillon Esquire John Edgworth. Esquire and diverse others, whoe next night went towards Longford to haue Reliued that place, but finding it straingly tly beseiged, and all the passadges, and wayes blockt up, he went to the Castle of Rathcline which was alsoe Reddy to be besieged. and hauing staied some fewe dayes there himself he placed the aforsaid mr Henry Dillon there, whoe Remained there till towards Christimas and had his wiff & Childred with him there, and a fewe dayes afore Christmas he deliuered the said castle vpp vnto Sir James Dillon the elder one of the Gouernors of the said Com, and betook himself towards his owne house & castle in the Com of Roscomman

from Ballymore as aforesaid where this examynett meett Sir James Dillon, this examinett went to Athlone and there Remained two nights, from thence in his way to Castle cootte and there did see Sir Charles Cootte the yonger, mr Edward Ormsbie and many others, after doing my his duttie vnto Sir Charles, went to Clousbavoyle where this examynetts Brother William Davys Esquire did Liue and there Remained making away as many of his cattle and Receauing as much of his debts as he could, having soe don, entending to come to Dublin againe, began his Jorny towards Dublin about some 10 dayes before Christimas and came to Castle cootte to knowe if Sir Charles would comand this examinett any service to Dublin & to knowe howe the passadg was, was advised by Sir Charles and Mr Ormsbie not to wenter then to come & that the way was verrie dangerous, whervppon this examynett Retorned back to his said Brothers house againe, but in the meane tyme this examynett being three nights at Castle cootte, one william Cliford whoe hath bein in the lif tyme of his father George Clifford & euer since a suitter vnto [ ] this examinats brothers daughter vntill at Last they agreed of a [portion?] and the marriadg was to be sollymniffed, the said william Clifford not having god before his face, came to this examynetts brothers house accompayned with Rorry oge mc Dermott of Doongar in the said Com of Roscomman and many others vnder the pretences of the said entended marryadg did Tress Threacherously intrape

This examynett & his said brother and bound them with a cord all that night & took away from this examinetts brother and from this examynett all that euer they had dispossest this examynetts brother out of his house & Lands & brought this examynett & his brother prisoners to Elphine, where this examynett meett mr Henry Dillon alsoe prisoner in the Custody of Coon o Rourk, and there vnderstood that before the said mr Dillon could come to his house & castle from the Castle of Rathcline one Dowaltagh mc ffarry O hanly Teig mc Dermott O Connor, Brien ffarrell, accompayned at lest with a thowsand or fiftine hundred men came to the said mr Dillons house & castle & tooke away all his cattle, mony, & goods whatsoeuer & entred into his house & castle & detaynes it still, threassing his corne & vsing it & all the rest of his goods, and Laied waitt for the said mr Dillon & tooke him prisoner and de deliuered him ouer vnto Coon O Rourck, whoe came at the same tyme into the Com of Roscomman, whoe kept the said mr Dillon with him prisoner going with him afoott euery where that the said Coon went vntill the meetting aforsaid at Elphine, apointed betweene the said Coon and the genttlemen of the said Com of Elphine Roscomman where the said mr Dillon was with the said Coon still a prisoner whoe would haue taken him with him out of the Com of Roscomman into

into the Com of Leytrem, but that Hugh O Connor Dun Esquire mad suit to the said Coon to leaue the said mr Dillon with him in his custody, soe that after much entreattie the said Coon leaft the said mr Dillon in the custody of the said Hugh O Connor and Charles O Connor Roe did threatten there to cutt of the said mr Dillons head if opertunytie he might finde, from Elphine this examynett was convayed as prisoner & his brother and detained till they weare brought to Ballintober in the said Com of Roscomman, where the Com had a generall meetting, and there this examynett did see Sir Lucas Dillon, Sir Vllick Burk, Charles O Connor Dun, Charles O Connor Roe, Hobert Burk of Dunoman, William Molly Allexander Hugent, Phillipe Dowill and many <symbol> others tak an Oath to stand to a Couenant then read and apointed seuerall Comeetties out of each Barony for the gormerent of the Com & Captaines for euery Barony and there this examened againe meett the said mr Henry Dillon a prisoner in the custody of Hugh oge o Connor, and there this examyned desired mr Dillon that he might come in his company towards Dublin, and soe within some ten dayes after the said mr Dillon writt to this examynett that mr Hugh oge Connor was the satterday following to convay him him out of the Com and that day this examynett mett
