The examination of Donel mc Rory taken before vs Sir Sa: Mayart knight & Hue Cressye esquire this 30th of October 1641
<V> Who beinge examined saith that he was borne in the County of fferman{agh} in the barrony of Maherestaffanah vnder Sir William Belfore & is of the age of 24 yeares or 26 yeares & hath liued & dwelled there euer since & hath bine marryed theis 4 yeares his wife beinge the daught{er} of Brian oagh mcelkree of the alias Relyes who hath bine longe since dead & that he came to this towne of Dublin vpon Saterday last yesterday seuenight being ffriday in the eueni n ge & the 22 of this October & saith that he came the tuseday before from his owne house in the County of Cauan called the halfe tate of Dromenallagh, & came that day about 15 miles to the house of Murriertagh mc Igone 3 or 4 miles on this side from Newton, & that he mett that day vpon the high way one Donel mc Ilroy Thomas mc Mahon & Brian Ballogh or Brian modder mc guire who came al to the house of the said mc Igone & lodged ther al night & that ther was no other persons with him that day & that the next day beinge Wedensday this examinant & the said Donel mc Ilroy & Brian Ballagh mc Guire came to Edmund Orelyes hou{se} <W> beinge a man whom he neuer saw before nor knoweth the name of the place wher the said Edmund dwells but that it was vpon the high way & nere 20 miles from the said mc Igones house & that no other persons but the 2 last abouenamed were in his company for that Tho: mc Mahon left them in the morninge & went about his busines but he knoweth not what nor whether he went; & that the next day being thursday this examinant & the said Donel mc Ilroy & Brian Ballagh & no other with them came to [ ] Killere & lay at the house of one Tho: Plunket at whose house ther was no strangers but this examinant & the other 2 last mentioned pers{ons} & the next day he & the other last mentioned persons came hether to Dublin about eueninge & lodged in Cokestreete but the name of the dweller of the house he knoweth not nor was ther any strangers that this examinant knoweth in the said house but saith that after he came in ther came in 2 or 3 strangers which lodged ther that night. And saith that his only busines to this towne was to come to fetch downe his wiues sister called Onora ny relye who dwelt <X> then with mr Darcy the lawyer in scholehouse lane but cold not come to speake with her bef{ore} he was apprehended which was on Sunday morning last by reason of the troubles that were in the towne on Saterday on which day this examinant went vp & downe the towne lokeing about him & lay that Saterday at night at another house for [ ] in Cokestreete but knoweth not the name of the partye that dwelleth therein: And he further saith that he knoweth not what busines the said Brian Ballagh or the said Donel mc Igone had in towne. but saith that they were apprehende vpon {Sunday?} before this examinant

<He saith further that his said Sister Onora hath dwelt theis 3 yeares in this towne but how longe she serued mr Darcy he knoweth not. nor & saith that his said Sisters time came out at hollontide next which was the cause he came at this time to fetch her downe with him.
