<+ 12 Exw> John Anthony of Kilnecartan in the parrish of Hacketstowne & County of Catherlagh duly sworne and examined deposeth That the xxjth of November 1641. He hearing that the Rebells against our soveraigne Lord the Kinge in the Countie of Wicklow hadd robbed & dispoyled his neighbours, Came to Dublin with part of his goodes & left the rest in charge with his wiffe & servantes By whom he is informed credibly that vpon the xxiijth day of November aforesaid in the night tyme Tirloghe Bane alias Birne of Towrby and Coole Mc Gerrald of Bordkill, and Morrice Dune alias Nolan of Killeclonah in the County of Wickloe and Tirloghe Byrne of Kilnecartan aforesaid in the County of Catherlaghe with divers others to the number of about 20 persons, came to the Castle of Clanmore in the parrish of Clanmore and Countie of Catherlagh whither this deponentes wife and many

of their neighbours had carried much of their goodes and tooke the said Castle by force, and this deponentes goodes, and thence came to this deponentes wiffe howse and tooke from his said wiffe, what there was left to the value of ffiftie twoe poundes 10 s. And this deponent further sayth that the said Turloghe Birne of Kilnecartan aforesaid (as this deponent is credibly informed) is now in possession of this deponentes howse, malt howse, and of his Corne in the Haggard, hay malt fewell with vtensills to the said Malt howse belonging worth 340 li. 10 s. This deponent further sayth That his said wiffe (as he is credibly informed) indeavoureing to haue brought an hundreth head of Cattle to Dublin Her servants were on the high way intercepted by Cahir Birne and the sonns of Edmund Birne of Portrashin in the County of Catherlaghe gent with other inhabitantes of the said towne of Portrushin, whoe forcibly tooke away from her servantes William owgan and others assisting him the said said Cattle worth CC li. And this deponent is credibly informed: That this deponentes wiffe & 2 servantes comeing towardes Dublin by Talbotstowne in the County of Wickloe were informed by Peter Wickham of Talbotstowne Esquire his seacond sonn That there were fowre of this deponentes oxen (worth xij li.) vpon his father Peter Wickhams landes desireing this deponentes wiffe to send for them: And at the same instante one Marcus Wickham brother to the said Peter made answere that one of them was killd the night before & the rest were taken away he knew not whither. And further deposeth that he this deponent haveing seuerall other cattle taken away & stollen of the land of Killecartan Ballycullen and Constables hill, & haveing sent his servantes to inquire what was becomen of them one Donoghoe Water, one of his said servants tould him this deponent That he sawe vpon the land of Peter Wickham amongst the said Peters Cattle 12 mares of the young studd ; & 12 Cowes In all worth {72 li.}

as this deponent belieueth lxxii li. marked with his Masters this examinantes marke which the servantes of the said Peter confessed to be of the goodes of this Examinant
And this deponent further saith that he left vpon his land of Kilnecartan Ballicullen & Constablehill above named 150 head of Cattle Cowes & horses & swine In all worth CCClxxiiij li. which he cannott as yet learne whoe hath taken And the deponent had at the begining of the Rebellion due to him from his Tennants whoe are robbed and disinabled to make satisfaccion 50 li. And further this deponent had other debtes due from such as are nowe in Rebellion or robbed & disinabled by the Rebells amounting to lxxx li.: And by the said Rebellion this deponent is dispossed of and hath lost the benefit of his improvement & buildings vpon the foresaid farmes worth 300 li. and hath left behynd him and as he verely beleeveth hath lost the benefite of his fallow & Corne sowen in the ground, worth xxv li. More this deponent left behynd him timber and boardes for building and implementes for husbandry worth xxiij li. And this deponent left att the Phanix nere Dublin fowre English studd mares worth xxv li. which about the 24th of December last were thence stollen: but this deponent knoweth not by whom: Soe that in all this deponent hath lost by reason of this Rebellion at least 1520 li. of the greatest part whereof this deponent according to his then knowledge made oath before Sir William Rives knighte
