The Examination of Robert Welsh of Kynmo re taken the xxxth daie of March 1642 Before mee Sir Robert Meredith knight Chancellor of his Maiesties Court of Exchequer & o ne of his Maiestie s Justice s of the peace for the Countie of Dublin By direction of the right honnorable the Lordes Justices & Councell:
Who beeing sworne & Examined, saith, that about the later end of November last, hee this Examinant vnderstood there was a Proclamation made by command of Luke Netterfeild, in the Market place of Luske, That all the gentlemen of the Countie (vpon paine of Death) should meete att Swordes, within three or ffoure daies after And accordinglie there was a great meeteing held att the tyme & place aforesaid, where hee this Examinant vnderstood the said Luke Netterfeild made sundrie Captaines, vizt, Richard Golding of Kinsale, Thomas Russell of Brownestowne, ffrancis Russell, Robert Travis, Hollywood of Artaines sonne, Cruce of the Nall, & Murphey of Balrudderie. And this Examinant further saith, that Collonell Hugh Birne came vnto his this Examinants house, & there remained with his company and Guard for ffoure or ffiue daies together. But this Examinant himselfe quitted & forsooke the said house. And likewise saith hee sent noe Provisions prisoners vnto the Army att Killsalchan or other where, But acknowledgeth Provisions were taken from him att seuerall tymes by the Rebells.
