William Higges of Garrons in the Queenes Countie gent being e duly sworne and examined deposeth and saith That on or about the ffirst of December last he this deponent was robbed & dispoyled of

of 52 Cowes or thereabout & other goods of the great value of worth lxxviij li. Mares Colts and one Nagge worth xvij li. xiij s. iiij d. 140 sheepe worth xlij li. 6 Bacons worth vj li. Corne in haggard worth C li. 40 Barrells in howse worth xx li. Corne in ground and manureinge more to be sowen in ha z ard to be lost xx li. Clothes howshould stuffe and provisions iiij xx li. hay x li. In all CCClxxiij li. xiij s. iiij d. besides his improcreats and ffine for the Garrons CC li. of which 52 Cowes before mencioned the deponent saith that 2 of them were taken away from the deponents sonne in lawe Walter Brooke his howse at Killcrowe about the 6th of December last by some of Sir John Bowens of Bally Adam his servants or followers and 14 more of his said sonne in lawe his Cowes with them. And that when this deponent went to Sir John Bowen to demande the said Cowes (parte of which Cowes came to the said Sir Johns) he put of this deponent with delayes, whereupon this deponent said he would complayne of the said Sir John, & thereupon he was pleased to call this deponent Rogue & Rascall and Traytor and to abuse him with manye opprobrious speeches. And further saith that parte of his goods were taken away by Henry Dempsie commonly called Collonell Dempsie brother to the Lord of Clonmalero and by Cahir McWony ô Dempsie and by one of the sonns of Tibbott Dempsie all of Clanmalero, and William Holye of the same and Edmond o Mahon of the same Mathew fforster of the same and Dermott o Mahon of the same Patericke Connoran and Shane Connoran and Patricke Coulson and Derby Scullye all of Clanmalero gent and Captain William Cosbye alias Kellye of Garrynad, Patricke Price servant to the said Kelly William Dollard of gent William Casye of Ballykillkonan and Murrogh ô Dowlin his sonne in lawe with many others as Hugh Brian Murtagh Tirlagh and Cahir the sonnes of Davy McHugh o Connor of Ballykillkonan
