Goodman Walker of Kilteale in the Queenes County gent sworne and examjned saith That by the Rebells in the present Rebellion he hath beene and is deprived robbed and dispoyled of his goodes & chattells & meanes worth aftermenc ioned vizt of beasts and Cattle worth Lxiiij li. gelding s and Mares worth xvj li: Swyne worth xxvj s. viij d. sheepe worth ffiftie powndes Corne worth C li. Howsholdstuff & implements of husbandrie worth xxxv li., And the leases of his farme worth at least Cl li. Soe that his whole losses in all amount to three hundreth and Nynety powndes xvj s. viij d. And further sayth that on ffriday the viijth of Aprill 1642 he this deponent following the army and being in the Company of one John Hopton a souldier vnder the Command of Captainthe said deponent espyed one Rory Duffe a smith and servante to William Dullon of Stradbally in the Queens County Blacksmithe a knowne robber and Rebell since the begun Rebellion which Rory was comeing out of the howse of Disart being Sir Robert Piggotts from Barnaby Donie of Brittas which said Rory Duffe told this deponent (and Mr Dun likewyse affirmed the same and said) That he the said Rory Dunn was Mr ffrancis Cosbys servant And further sayth that he this deponent knowing that the said Rory had beene in action and at the Robbery and stealeing of Mr ffrancis Peasleys sheepe at kilmartir, & of his this deponents owne sheepe depastureing at killmurrey nere to kilmartir (the said sheepe being in all five hundreth good sheepe of English kynd) were rebelliously driven away & taken about the Latter end of November Last paste by the

Demsyes from Ballibrittus and one Patrick Duff of Kilpatrick in the parrish of Moyanaghe in the Queens County husbandman & the Seacond sonn of Richard oge of Imo Art รด Dolin of Ballibrittus in the same parish Edmond dolin of the same parrishe husbandmen and Shane o Doolin of kilpatrick And Edmond Doolin of Kilpatrick aforesaid (Loose persons) and the said Rory Duffe: Att which time this deponent pursueing on horsback the Rebells vpon hope of Recouery of the sheepe had not only a Muskett cocked and presented towards him to be discharged and But a dart throwne at him: which missed him this deponent and wounded a horse which was in his Company: The said Rory and <hand> Art doolin sayinge they were the queens souldjers And sayth that he this deponent know ing the same to be e true did apprehend the said Rory to come forth as aforesaid and delivered him the said Rorie to the foresaid souldier to be carryed and conveyed to Marriborroughe there to be delt with according to his deserts. And saith that hee hath heard that the said prisoner afterwards shifted away: And this deponent further deposeth that he hath att sundry tymes endeavored to apprehend knowne Rebells and malefactors in this Rebellion, but was hindered by proteccions & shifting away of such wicked members of knowne Rebells to the great disharteninge of the kinges Subiects And sayth That the xith of Aprill: 1642 this deponent did apprehend vpon hard pursuite Davie Hose of Rathmore tennant to Robert Robinson thelder of Balljmaddock (haveing espyed him ryseing out of a quicksett ditch nere the ParkLande and flying out of the highe way capped and mantled & this deponent offering to shoote him he then desired the deponent to forbeare and save his Liffe: And this deponent haveing examyned him what weapons he had and fynding him vnarmed and vnable to doe him any hurtAnd haveing heard That he had beene threshing of Mr Hoyles Corne; And Mr Hoyle saying that if he could gett him he would hang him did therevpon stay and apprehend him and carry him to Disart before Mr Barnaby Dunn of Brittas Esquire a Justice of the peace to be examined: whoe conferred with him both in English & Irish: And the said Rebell then confessed that he knew five persons of the towne of Rahmore where he lived in

in the parish of Stradbally to have beene threshing of Mr Hoyles corne whoe were tennants to Mr ffrancis Cosby: yet the said Barn: Dun without more a doe dismissed the said Hose alledging that he was his owne tennant: The said davie Hose promissing the said Barnaby Dun five barrells of Corne in this deponentes hearing: And in like manner the same day this deponent being Corporall of the watche, and Looking to the gate att disart espied a strang person comeing in whom hee stopped & inquired of him where he dwelt, whoe answered att Garry maddock in the towne of William Cosbys Late habitacion and the Land of Francis Cosby: Vpon which this deponent apprehended him knowing that he could not bee but a Rebell: yet the same person came on strongly & entered the gate: where this deponent did thrust him with the butt end of an end of an halbert: which William Cosby thebrother of the said Francis Cosby espying fell out with this deponent saying it was ill done and more then he could answere: ffor that the partie was his father in Laws Mr Duns tennant at Ballimadock and Mr Dun tould soe much to this deponent albeit the deponent knew to the Contrary, and soe the man (by his direccions) was willed to be Lett passe away: And further deposeth that there is not one Irish papist that he knows of in all the Cuntrie: which is not giultie of this present Rebellion.
