<3294> The Informaccion of Robert Williams Seriant to C{aptain}{ } higate against Edw: Butler sonne to the late Lord Mountg{arr}et
That the said Edw: Butler when he was apprehended laid hands on my Carabine. I asked him if his name was Butler he said it was not, he asked me why I laid hands on him he beinge in proteccion & had his proteccion in his pockett That the said Edw: Butler desired those Irish Officers then present to assist him sayinge will you leaue aid thus I asked him for armes he answered he had not any b{ut} a knife but being searched by one Jer: Weaver of Captain ffrancks Troope a Madoge was by him found about Mr Butler the heaft thereof in his hand & the blade in the sheath, That the said Edw: Butler desired me & the rest that apprehended him to shoote him for he said he knew if he were brought to Kilkenny he should be hanged & further he said he feared nothinge but false informacion.
