The Examination of Donogh Connor of Mylerstowne in the County of killdare gent taken the 2d of December 1652
who vpon Examination saith, that about Michaelmas was twelue month, an affray happened on the lands of Castletowne, beetweene Connor Berginn, John Connor, and others, in which affray Connor merginn was wounded, and soone after died, and whether hee <B> was wounded by the said John or not, this Examinate knoweth not, beeinge att the time of the affray att dinner in his owne house immediately after the said Connor Merginn his brother in law kinsmen, and freindes beeinge present, seized vpon the said John, chardginge him with the fact, and Collonell ffitspatricke and grace, beeinge then uery powerfull in that Country, beeinge neere slewbloomy, tooke the said John to Inchlaghcoory, where the said Merginn his neere kinsman Captain teige [omc?] Carrell, commanded vnder Collonel grace, where the said John was restrained for two or three monthes, or therabouts, vntill the said Collonell ffitspatricke

ffitspatricke, grace, and the rest oft their Councell sett him att libertie, vpon what accompt, this Examinate knoweth not. This Examinate saith, that when hee saw there was noe possibilitye to bringe the said John to birre, that hee wrote earnestly to those in Command in the said Inch, that if they found, that the said John did kill the said Merginn, that hee might receaue the iust reward of a malefactor, for the said Merginn, was this examinates neere kinsman, and married to this examinates Cossen German.
