The examjnacion of Patricke Rush aged thirty yeares or thereabouts beeing duely sworne and examjned dep taken the xvijth of ffebr 1652 before vs by order of the high Court of Justice
Who beeing duely sworne and examjned deposeth and saith That about a yeare of the last harvest the examjnant and Richard Dignam beeing then on a high hill the Moate at Johnstowne did see three soldiers of the English soldiers partie (whose names hee knoweth not) comeing from to Cloncurry towards Dublin who were sett vppon by Richard Roertie now prisoner John Hevie and two others whose names hee knoweth not) and brought to a bogg side and there murdered, Hee saith that the said Richard Roertie with a boy in his company came to the place aforesaid where the examjnant was, that the said boy had a suite of Clothes a knappsacke and a sword which the said Roertie tould the examjnant did

did belong to th one of the said soldiers that were soe killed by them, Hee saith that hee knoweth not whither or noe the said Roertie was vnder any comand at that tyme but beleiueth hee was not, but wer and that hee and the rest were ffoote=Tories Hee further saith that the said Richard Roertie about the tyme aforesaid did kill one Daniell Donegan of his one partie vppon suspicion that the said Daniell was to goe to Tecroghan then comanded by the English, as the examjnant heard generally reported, And further saith not,
