The Examinacion of Bryan Collgan of Castletowne in the Countie of Meath: taken before vs the 27 Janu: 1653
The said Bryan being duely Examined sayeth, that he did know one Ellin McGilluoy, as he beleeueth was soe called, in Castle Jordan, which woeman was sent for by Captain George Cusacke then Gouernor of Tecrochan, and as he verely beleeueth in the yeare 1647 or there aboutes, and the Gward that was sent for her by the said Cusacke brought her to the Towne of KnockaneGivolly neere Tecrochan, where they mett the said Cusacke and in his Company Pierce Nugent of Balltigiery then marshiall of those partes, & after a long debate between the said Cusake & the said Nugent Caused the aforesaid Ellin McGillwoy to burnt to Ashes in the presence of this Examinate and diuers others whose names he knoweth not and further sayth not but that he credibly heard that she was soe Burnt for haveing a child by another woemans husband, which she murdered & buried in a Dunghill, which murder was discryed by a dogg takeing the said child out of the dunghill
