Art Briene alias Art mcTeig of Eniscorthy yeoman aged thirty eight yeares or thereabouts being duely sworne & examined Concerning the within said Joseph fferrall and Danyell his sonne and heir Deposeth and saith
That he well knew the said Joseph and Danyell for that they dwelt at Eniscorthy where this deponents residence was sometime of the rebellyon: And further saith that this deponent did see the said Joseph at the publicque meetings of the Irish held at Eniscorthy in the first yeare of the said rebellyon & sithence: And saith that the said Joseph was much in fauor with Peirce Buttler of Clough esquire who betrayed the Castle of Eniscorthy & tooke the same from walter Lacie, who was in actuall possession thereof for and in the behalfe of Sir <p> Henry wallop the proprietor thereof the same in the first yeare of the said rebellyon And further saith, that the said Danyell being vnder the protecion of the Ld Generall Cromwell after his reducing the said Castle of Eniscorthy to his obedience, did a short time before Christmas 1649: attempt the betraying, and did with seauerall others that he had procured to his facion, betray the Castle of Eniscorthy, and cruelly murtherred Capt Todd then gouernor thereof & guarrissoned therein and after the murthereing of the said Capt Todd the deponent did see the said Danyell weare the cloathes of the said Capt Todd: In which castle he the said Danyell Continued as gouernor thereof till the same was surrendered vpon condicions: And the deponent further saith that he the deponent was an Inhabitant in the towne of Eniscorthy at the time the castle thereof was betrayed, and Capt Todd slayne in manner aforesaid and further saith not &c
