The Examinacion of Edward Synnot of Dungulp gent aged about thirtie one yeares, taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth, Concerning Bryan Cauanagh of Mongan Murrough, in the barronie of Scarewailsh & Countie of wexford gent vpon the Interrogatoryes annexed to the Commission of enquirie
<To the 1st Inter & the Rest> The Examinant Deposeth and saith That the said Bryan dwelte at a place called the Three castles in the Countie of wickloe in the first yeare of the Rebellion & sometime afterwardes: And saith that about Candlemas 1641: this Deponent hauing for safeguard of his life betaken himselfe to the seruice of Sir Morgan Cauanagh knight to wayte vpon him as his page; & being in his said Masters seruice, at that time, the deponent did see the said Bryan Cauanagh <y> to Resorte to & be very familiar with the said sir Morgan, the cheife actor and promoter of the warre in them partes of the Countrey where the said sir Morgan dwelte And further saith That the said Sir Morgan hauing about or a little after Candlemas aforesaid, Raysed a Regiment of Souldyers for the Irish against the english In which Regiment the said Bryan was a Captaine and had a Companie of souldyers in Armes, but how many the deponent knoweth not, onely saith That about Easter then next following the said Sir Morgan marching with his Regiment to a place called Kilrush to fight against the english whither this Deponent: wayting vpon him, did amongst others see the said Sir Morgan Bryan Cauanagh Leading and Comanding his Companie thither to Kilrush aforesaid In which seruice the said Bryan & his Companie were and further saith not &c
