<64> William Domvill Vicar of Killuckin in the Diocess of Elphin sonn in law to Marmaduke Clapham Minister of Synrone in the Di Kings County [ ] & Diocese of Killalow & George Clapham stud ent of Trinity Colledg Dublin the [only] son of the said Marmaduke being duly sworne depose that about the 4th of December last past 1641 the said Marmaduke together with & the deponents [ ] & the wife of the said William were dispoyled robbed or otherwise lost

by the handes & meanes of Teige McOwny O Carroll of Killanoan his sons & their Complices who surprised & stripped vs them at Castletowne, as we they were flying to Waterford, greivously wounding the said Marmaduke & reviling vs with the names of Puritans, English Rogues & the like threatning withall that shortly after they would hang Mr William Parsons of the Birr Governor of Ely O Carroll, & Capten Pesly of Knock ne mese at their owne gates.
And further Likewise they depose that the said Marmaduke lost at Synrone aforesaid

by the hands & meanes of Owen macKillafoile of Synrone, who by his earnest intreaty, & many oathes & protestacions of honesty & friendship drew the said Marmaduke after he had bene robbed & shamefully abused at Castletowne as is aforesaid to committ himselfe theise deponents and the others in their & his company, with the Cattell & most of the aforesaid goods into his house & custody, who the next day after thrust them all vs out of doores a little before night, not giving vs them so much (of our owne victualls) or would have sufficed vs them to supper, & with all threatned the Inhabitants in <x> that Towne (as they told vs the y) to burne their houses over them if they should intertayne vs them
Likewise they depose that the said Marmaduke at Garrymore of in the kings County aforesaid lost

<250> besids that about [ ] yeare s since he purchased his interest in the said farme of Garrymore at 80 li., & since hath expended in building & improving the same above 160 li. <C> by the hand & meanes of the mcCoghlans whose names they yet know not.
Likewise they depose that Mr Heyton Parson of the Birr, Mr George Medope, Mrs Medope daughter to Sir Edward Trevers Knight & Mrs Heyton being robbed of all they had by the kearnes in Ely O Carroll, went towards Limericke for safety of their lives, but were quickly pursued by Donel mcffarginamin O Carroll of Kilcouehin <gent &> divers others who stripped them naked in frost & Cold snow.
further they depose that about the tenth of December last, the foresaid Owen mcKillfoile Donogh mcKillfoile of Synrone aforesaid William mcffarginamin O Carroll of Correlento, Donogh mcKillfoile of Tubbrid Dermott O Kenedy of the derrie James mcKedagh O Carroll of Synrone all gent & most of the gentlemen in that Country of Ely O Carroll meeting together, went in hostile manner into Munster, to withstand (as they pretended) the Lord President, who (as themselves gave out) was coming into O Carroll, with fire & sword; but the deponents beleiue it was cheifly to raise them of Munster into Rebellion, who till that time were quiet.
Likewise the said Willia{m deposeth that he h}imselfe {in the} County of Rosc{ommon hath lost In bookes and other things about xxli., In Corne & money due to him for tythes of his Livings ffiftie pounds sterling, besides the yearely profitte of his livinges beinge communibus annis worth fowerscore poundes. But by whose meanes he yett knoweth not}
