The examinacion of William Stafford gent taken vpon oath on the behalfe of the Comonwealth Concerning William Hore of Harperstowne in the County of Wexford esquire vpon the Interrogatories &c
<To the 1st Interr> The examinant Deposeth & saith that the said William Liued at Harperstowne in the barrony of Bargie in the Countie of wexford & elsewhere in the Irish quarters the first yeare & the whole time of the warre, & did not thence <u> remooue into the english quarters, as the deponent beleiues he might haue done but not without losse of his estate as the deponent conceiues: his cause of knowledge hereafter ensueth
<To the 2d Interr> Hee cannot depose
<To the 3d interr> The deponent saith that the said William being one of the County Councell did actually as he beleiues pay his proporcion of publicque Leuyes the first yeare <w> of the warre, for maintenance of the Irish forces then in Armes, And further saith that he being clearke of the said County Councell did see the said william subscribe to warrants for raysing monyes for payment of the said forces that first yeare his cause of knowledge appeares
<To the 4th Interr> The deponent saith that the said william was in actuall Armes amongst the Irish at the fight of Ballibeg neere Rosse against the Lord of Ormond & the english Armie in or about March in the yeare 1642: & that the said williams son & heyre walter Hore was then & <x> there in actuall armes & was killed; the cause of this deponents knowledge is for that the said william Hore told the deponent thereof giuing the deponent a relacion of the said walters actions before he was killed And further saith that the said County Councell did in the first yeare of the warre contract with Collonell John Deuereux of Mountpill & others to giue them foure hundred poundes for taking & subdueing the castle of Tinterne then guarrissoned by Captaine Aston & a party of english of which Councell the said william was a member at that time & to

the best of the deponents remembrance personallie present The deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was Clearke to the said County Councell at the time the said contract was made as aforesaid
<To the 5 th 5th & 6th inter> The deponent saith that the said william Hore was a member of the generall assemblie held at waterford in the yeare 1643: & had a vote in chooseing men to act <y> in the Supreame councell this deponents cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was a member of the said assemblie & was chamber fellow with the said william Hore in Waterford parte of that time
<To the 7th inter> The deponent saith that he beleiues the said William did take the oath of associacion for that he could not <z> act in the Imployments which he did vndertake except he had sworne the said oath as he conceiues
<To the 8th inter> The deponent saith that the County Councell whereof the said william was a member) in or about March in the yeare 1642) issued a warrant Impowering Sir Thomas Esmond Thomas Rosceter of Rathmacknee & the deponent Impowering them to take vp Armes & <a> Amunicion from Captain Antony for supply of the Irish Armies vnder the Comand of Lieutenant Collonell william Browne in the County of Wexford for the more certaintye the deponent refferreth himselfe to the said warrant
<To the 9th interr> The deponent saith that the said william was a County Councell man in the first yeare of the warre & A member of the assemblie in the yeare 1643 <b> as aforesaid & that in the yeare 1644: the said william Hore was one of the Commissioners of the generall Reuenue of the Precinckt of wexford whole Nation & soe continued for about two yeares & that in the yeare 1643: the said william was Receiuer of the publicques moneys and treasure in the said County: His cause of knowledge is for that the deponent was acquainted with the said william & did see him act as Commissioner of the Reuenue & publicque receiuer the time aforesaid

<To the 10th interr> The deponent saith that the said William Hores sonne & heyre Walter Hore was in actuall Armes & slayne at the fight of Ballibegg neere Rosse as aforesaid, And further saith that the said william had another sonne by name Anthony Hore who was a notable plunderer of the english goods <c> in the first yeare of the warre as the deponent heard by the generall relacion of the Countrey gent & that the said Anthony was in or about the yeare (1645: a Captaine of foote in the Regiment of ffoote vnder the Comand of Collonell Warren the deponents cause of Knowledge is for that the deponent did see his the said Anthonyes muster roulles & was acquainted with the Major of the said Regiment who Informed the deponent of the said Anthonyes actings & Comand as a foresaid.

<To the 12th interr> The deponent saith that the said william Hore being one of the County Councell as aforesaid did with the rest signe & issue warrants for Leuying & bringing <d> into the publicque Treasury all the monyes that were due to any english or protestants for the tythes sould in the yeare 1641: In pursuance whereof the said monyes were collected and brought in to publicque vse as aforesaid
