The examinacion of John Patt of Castlyons Inkeeper taken before me this 4th of december 1652
Beinge duely sworne vpon the Evangelist and examined deposeth and sayth that in or aboute the September 1643 this deponent dwellinge att Castlyons and beinge then a Trooper vnder the Comaund of the Earle of Barrymore there Came to Castlyons Richard Wheeller and Joane Ann Seller daughter Children to Rich= Seller Late of killnacurryn whoe with his wife and <A> three more were murdered att the sayde killnacurry the night before and then and there she acquainted the whole garyson how theire her ffather and mother and the rest were murdered wherevpon this deponent with the rest of the Troope and a party of foote went to see the deade Corps and there acording as they s hee related the dead Corps were found and brought them to Castllyons and buryed them and it was the gennerally amongest the horse and foote Conceuied that the parties or some of them whoe Comitted the murder were att the widdow Bryans house at kilnacurry for that the this deponent and the rest of the party found that the goods went Carryed to Mrs Bryans house for that they found some many of the goods scattered towards the sayde house very <B> nere the gate thereof and that Mrs Bryan then in quarter and the rest of the party that were within woud not suffer any of the party to Come into her house and that there was at that tyme some Comaunder within the house for that there was a horse sett downe from the wall on the backsyde of the house and a man whoe immediately made an escape into the wood and a party followed him but he he made his escape his Cause of knowledge is for that he did see him when he went away as aforesaid And ffurther sayth not.
