The Examination of Charles Dillon of Major Purdons troope taken September. 8. 1652.
This Examinant sworne & examined saith, That haveing heard <A> the examination of Symon Purdon reade, concerning the taking of him this Examinant, & the said Symon Purdon, & Robert Kenedy and John Morgan therein mentioned, & concerning the usage of the said Symon Purdon, & that aboue the said kenedy, & Morgan were sent away as is in the said expressed examination expressed, & never since heard of, This Examinant knoweth & beleeveth the same to be true at every particular. And farther saith that the Country gentlemen mentioned in the said Examination who persuaded the said Symon Purdon, & him this Examinant, & the said kenedy & Morgan to go into that house when & where they were betrayed before (as in that relation) there names are John Connor, & donell Connor his sonne, & Awly Murphy & Chahir Connor all of kilcrea in the Co: of Corke: & that the said Cahir Connor the said Awly after att designing to betray the Castle of Kilcrea aforesaid was killed neere the said hanged for the same <B> Castle. And that those of the Enemy who then tooke him this Examinant & the rest prisoners were about 18 in number, comaunded by a Corporall named Andrew Galway, of whom he remembreth one Swyny, & John Long, & John Slabby, the two Last being sine since that tyme killed. And that that [ ] dermot <C> Murphy alias Corig was he that betrayed them, & after went away with the rebells & joyned with them. And farther saith not.
