The examination of David oge Reagh ô Greagh aged 60 y{eares} taken before vs the 6th of December 1652
This Examinate saith the Lord of Muskry did threat{en} them of the Barony of Kinalea with fyer & sword, if th{ey} <A> did not rise with him in Armes, & to that purpose sent into that Barony Capt: Sowgane, & Captaine Galdoff with 6 or 700: men, And the aforesaid Captaine did summon the Country & forced them to assemble, And being demanded who was at the assemblye, he saith that there was Barrye oge, & John Longe, James Roch, Richard Roch fitz Garrald & himselfe. But what others he doeth not remember, & saith he knoweth that Melaughline ô Line, was not there at all.
And being demanded by what Authoritye they were assembled, he saith, he neither saw nor heard of any authoritye, or Commission for the sayd assembly, but the force aforesayd, & that he Conceiueth Mr Longe was not Sheriff at that time, & saith that he knoweth of or noe, Acts or Orders there agreed of either for maintainance of Soldyers or otherwise,
And further sayth that he doth not know of any Order giuen for the executeing of any English person vnlesse it was giuen by the aforesayd Captaines, which he heard was giuen by them some few dayes after at Balgooley Castle, but for what Cause he knoweth not,
He sayth he heard of the hanging of Robert Beare & his wife, & one Pascue in few dayes after, but of the res{t} he heard not till of late,
He sayth that he hath heard, that the aforesaid Captains sent Joh{n} <B> Roch, Donnogh Boy, Donnogh ô Cone, to apprehend Beare & his wife but who apprehended the Rest the he knoweth not nor knoweth hee, nor who was the persons that did execute them nor euer hard to his best remembrance.
