<Kinsale ffebruary 22th 1653> Depositions taken Concerninge Peirce Gookan of BallinCorty in the Barrony of Kinalea in the yeare 1641
Jane ffloid of Kinsale Aged about 29 yeares beinge sworne and Examined saith that shee knew the afforesaid Gookan Liuinge att BallynCourt in the yeare 41
<1)> That hee might haue Remoued to the Garrison of Kinsale as diuers English of his Neighbours did
<2)> That hee Remoued ffurther into the Irish Quarters and Continued forth untill the yeare of Cessacion
<3 4)> That hee did Contribute Asistance of prouisions to Captain Soogane then Keepinge a Campe att Ballgooly within a Mile or two of his owne Castle and when Captain Soogane Raised his Campe hee the said Gookan went away with him
<5)> That hee was duringe the Irish Campe beinge att Ballgooly in pulique and priuate meetings with them
<10)> That hee had two Sonnes in Actuall Arm{es} with Captain Soogane duringe the time of his being in Campe att Bellgooly and went away with them
<12)> That hee tooke into his Custody the goods of this deponent ffather Viz 150 sheepe 15 hed of Cattle and 9 Horses and his said Corne Viz Wheat Barly and Oates and seuerall other goods, with a promise to Restore parte thereof when there should bee any settlement of peace but neuer did Restore any parte thereof hitherto
<11)> That there was seuerall English Liuinge in the yeare 41 neere this deponent Viz Peter Harris Liuinge now att CooleCarrane ffran: Daniell now Liuinge att CooleCarrane Edward Kenney now att MartlesTowne Edward Gollope now Liuinge att CooleCarrane James Harris now Liuing att CooleCarra{ne} Hen: Austine now att CooleCarrane John Martine sinc{e} dead Jacob Padgett now in England
The Cause of this deponent Knowledge is that when al{l} the English did Remoue shee was Left to ouersee her ffathers goods hee beinge fled to Kinsale for safety

Captain Soogan Cominge then betwene the house of this deponent ffather and Kinsale shee was forced to flie to this the said Gookans Castle Rather then betake her selfe to the hands of Soogane where this deponent obserued all the before mentiond Actinge and farther saith not
