Anthony Sherwin late of Ballemorohe in the County of Limerick gent & now of Rakeill in the said Countie gent sworne & examined deposeth & saith
That he hath seene & heard read [ ] a former examination of him this deponent which was taken vpon oath the third day of November 1642 before Henry Rugg & Thomas Elwell & which is now shewed vnto him this deponent & saith that the same in in all things true: And further saith that whilest this deponent was in the Castle of Kilfinny mentioned in his former examinacion, he this deponent & the rest of <A> the houlders of the same Castle were beseiged by Generall Barry the Lord Roch the Lord of Muskery the lord Bourk Baron of Castle Connell Theobald Purcell called the Baron of Loghmay & the rest of the Rebells in that behalf named in the said former Examinacion, vntill they yeilded vpon quarter for every English man to goe away with his life & for every Irish man that was there to be at the beseegers mercy: And there vpon the deponent & the rest of the English which were beseeged vpon cameing out of the Castle, there also came out at with them the same three Irish men which had been still of the English partie in the Castle vizt Richard ô Donoghoe & Robert ô Donoghoe his sonn & Edmund ô Calla together with one Nora ne Cawnrehan all of Kinnfinny: which said Irish men & woman were noe sooner come out but were presently apprehended by the Irish beseegers & there in the sight of the said Lord Roch the Lord of Muskery the B lord Bourk Baron of Castle Connell Theobald Purcell & the rest of the beseegers named in his said former Examination those three Irish men & the woman were hanged to death: And this deponent is confident the same was done by the Comand of the said Lord Roch the Lord of Muskery & the rest of the great persons beseegers above named, And this deponent & the rest of the beseeged greeved very much for that wicked cruelty & he this deponent would not for his part h at have deliuered vp the Castle if he had thought of any such cruelty to have been exercised vpon the said poore Irish people
