The Examinacion of Sir Lucas Dillon of Logh Glyn in the County of Roscomman knight, now prisner in the Citty Marshalsey of Dublyn taken before vs Coll Henry Markham & Collonell Thomas Herbert Members of the high Court of Justice there the 17 of June 1653
Being duely sworne and Examined saith That Hee hath knowne Collonell Hugh O Connor and his father Charles O Connor Dun of Ballintubber in the County aforesaid for many <A> yeares past. Hee alsoe saith that hee doth not know whither euer Charles O Connor commanded any party of the Rebells since th{e} Rebelljon first broke out, or that hee euer had any Commissi{on} but being an eminent man of that Countrey hath seen hi{m} many tymes at diuers generall meetings of the Irish & English of that party. And further saith that hee beleiueth that his son Hugh o Connor hath been Collonell of a foot Regi{m} for fiue or six yeares or thereabouts and as a souldyer from the begining of the Rebellion. Being demanded if hee did know Hugh Cunnoghan once a seruant to Major Robert Ormesby hee saith hee did neuer know or heare of su{ch} a man to the best of his remembrance, vntill that yesterday Coll Hugh O Connor came to see this Deponent in the Marshalsey & told him that hee was marching two hundred Irish towards the s{ } to meet with the Spanish Agent to treat with him about their tran{s}porticion. but hearing that Major Ormsby did intend to prosecu{te} against him for hanging of a man (who hee thincks was named Hugh Cunnoghan) and that the Major was in Towne, hee intends to go vnto him and also vnto Sir Charles Coote (whom hee also vnderstood was in Dublyn) to speake with them and to iustify { } hee had a hand in his Execution. and { } { }

they were both heer hee would endeavor to clear himself or words to that effect. being demanded if the sayd Hugh o Connor did not then or at some other tyme charge that murther vpon some other person, this Examinant saith hee did not euer heare him charge any therewith And further hee deposeth not.
