The examination of Charles Roe of Athlone smith taken before vs the day aboue written, beinge duly sworne and examined sath
That hee was a housekeeper at Athlone & an inlisted souldier in the Companie of Captain Richard St George, with one William Huges a Warriner belonginge to the Castell of Athlone, was murdered vpon a place called munckes land not farr <B> from the said towne beinge in haruest tyme which was in the yeare of 1642 and as this deponant was then and since Credibly informed by seuerall Cuntrie people that the aforesad William Huges was murdered by one Connor Ô Boyle, who was that tyme in Rebellion, The cause of this examinants Knowledge is that hee was one of the number that came allonge with the dead boddy into Athlone to bee buried, This examinant Likewise further sath that ther was a woman whose name was Mary Jones a Colliers wife of the said towne of Athlone, murdered at the same tyme and place by the afforesaid Connor Ô Boyle and his Companions and further sath not./
