The examination of Margaret Jones widdow dwellinge att Athlone taken before vs whose [ ] whose names are vnderwritten the 6th day of May 1653 beinge duly sworne and examined sath
That shee this deponent was well acquainted William Huges & Henry Jones both of the Inhabitance of Athlone who was murdered, And Mary Jones who was wounded vpon Mounksland, neare the towne of Athlone about the <A> begininge of Haruest which was in the yeare 1642 and as the Comon report of all the Cuntrie people went, Henry Jones and William Huges weare murdered, and Mary Jones was wounded at that tyme and place abouesaid by one Connor Ô Boyle and his Companions whose names this deponant cannot now remember, The Cause of this deponents Knowledge is that shee this deponent was in the towne of Athlone and saw two of the dead bodyes of the aboue mentioned persons brought to Athlone to bee buried, and sath furthere that this deponant did at that tyme heare one Mary Jones daughter to the aboue mentioned Mary Jones say; that her mother haueinge a litle <B> breath in her, when shee was brought to Athlone, did declare vpon her death bed that it was one Connor Ô Boyle (whome shee had given manie meales vnto, did murder her said Husband Henery Jones, and William Huges, and gaue seuerall woundes to the said Mary Jones who not manie howers after departed this life and further cannot depose.
