The Deposition of John Layng minister now Liweing at Belladrehead in the County of Sligo takne 24o Jun 1653
The examinant being duely sworne and examined sayth that Master Dawid <A> o Dowd of Lechan in the County of Sligo gent out of a murderous disposition with a Long skein, attempted to murder this deponent in the Castle of Roshe, which vndoubtedly hee had done, if hee had not bein prevented who
And this examinant further sayth that Roger oge mcSwyne of Ardneglas was the cheiff of thes persones who brok the quarter wherby Sir Robert Hannay Captan Andrew Adair with many persones wer to pass saffe from Beleek in the County of Mayo to Bellishanan in the County of Downegall wherby great and sewerall murders wer committed: And that the said Sir Robert Hannay and the rest wer sent prisoners to Dromahair commanded by Owen o Rork, thinkeing to release Con o Rork and Brian o Rork who wer then prisoners at Mannerhammilton: And further this deponent sayth that Sir Robert Hannay sent a Letter to Manurhammilton to desyre Con <B> o Rorik and Brian o Rorik to be exchanged with him and the rest of thes men who wer prisoners at Dromahair, which was Denyed, whervpon Mr Thomas ffullerton, Mr William Liston ministers and Patrick Dromond gent being of Sir Robert Hannay his partie wer brought from Dromahair to the Irish camp then Lyeing against Mannerhammilton wher they wer murdered, but by whom the murder was committed this deponent knoweth not
And this deponent further sayth that Mores McConmy was present at Ardneglas when some of thes persons belongeing to Sir Robert Hannay and Captan Adair wer murdered in that place, and further sayth not.
