The farther Examination of Thomas Dixon of Drog{hedah} March. 15. 1652.
This Examinant being farther examined upon oath saith That about one {m}oneth after the Rebellion began in Ulster, Michael Duyn who formerly lived in the Co: of Antrim, or Downe came with sevenscore families of Irish as the <A> Examinant t h heard them numbred, & setled himselfe & his Creaghts in the Englishmens houses at at Castledillon, & Hockly neere Armagh the said Duyns wives jointure: & the sayd Duyn comeing often to Armagh to an Irishmans house Oliver Tirell to drinke Aquavit æ where this Examinant then was, he the Examinant did heare the said Duyn relateing to the Irish that he he and his servants men had in one morneing killed seven and twenty about twenty seaven English & Scotts, & that he had sett his owne house on fire that morneing that he came away which was averred by the said Duyns servant then present, who added, how (said he) did the beefe then frie, meaneing barrells of beefe there left & burnt. This Examinant farther saith that he did se Michael Duyn often in the Company of Sir Phelim ô Neile at Armagh, & that he the said Duyn together with Alderman Stanly of Droghedah were all in all with the said Sir Phelim; & it w{as} <B> commonly reported that he the said D u yn was one of the principall men that sate in Councells of warre for putting the English to death. That the Bromloe Tailor before mentioned was seised on by the said D u yns men at Castledillon two miles from Armagh Duyn there dwelling but not then present: the said Duyns men aforesaid did cary the said { } to the said Duyn who bade them cary him to Sir Phelim O Neile { } charlemont where he was the next day hangd as the E xaminant heard. That the said { } the Examinants plowman, comonly called greate Ned an Englishman, neere { } aft aforesaid, he kept him for his plowman about with whom he conti{nued} { } Armagh was burnt & the same day he was hangd by the said Duyn & the man was hang d that day when the towne { } burnt as this Examinant was after told by the said Neds wife wh{o} <C> escaped from the Rebells to Droghedah. That William Appleby, & his { } & John Harding, & one Jackson a tanners sonne of Clonavy neere {-} {the} said Duyns house about Lisnegarvy were killed by the said Duyn or his s rva servants as this Examinant was (the 13th instant) told by Anne Orson the {wiffe} of Richard Orson now of Droghedah the said Anne then liveing at in with he{r} father in Clonavy aforesaid: the said Anne Orson then also told this Ex{aminant} that widow Harding did relate as aforesaid who which widow Harding she beleeves to be now liveing in Clonavie aforesaid. And farther saith not.

This Examinant farther saith that one Shane ô Hagh liveing in Benburbe in the Co: of Tirone at the begining of the rebellion, & being two or three yeares before bed ridd{en} with sickness, & in that time releeved & recovered by & by the meanes of William Wilkinson there his neighbour, the said Shane ô Hagh seised on the said Wilkinsons house

{ } goodes pretending to { } after murdered him { } As this examinant was {told?} by severall of the Irish: that he sawe the said Wilkinsons deade body with a stock thrust {thr}ough it in a ditch, the Irish then present saying this is Wilkinson whom Shane ô Hagh murdered, which was spoken in the presence of the Examinant and of Alderman Stanlys wife & his two daughters, and Anne Dice now of Droghedah: & saith that he heard the said Shane ô Hagh is now liveing at in vnder protection in Vlster
