The examinacion of Kath: C ooper Hooper wife of the former Examinant Art o Boyle of Castle Town Cooly Taken the 18th Janu: 1652 Concerning John Babe of Carlingford.
Whoe being duly sworne v ppon and examined deposeth & <A> sayth as followeth vizt,
That shee knoweth John Babe of Carlingford & hath known him this 15 yeares Past, And that shee hath heard that John Babe was a Marshall at the begin for the Irish at the begining of the Rebellion, And that the said Babe with some others in his Company about that time came to this Examinants husband, Art รด Boyles house And when hee came in hee the said Babe asked for the Examinants ffather Hugh Hooper wherunto she answered that hee was sick in bed, And shee further sayth that shee with the said Babe went into the Roome where the said Hugh Hooper was in bed, and that the said Babe vppon his comeing into the said Chamber & asked the said Hugh, neighbour how doe you doe, the said Hugh answerd I am very weak God help mee And shee further sayth that the said Babe did ask the said Hugh if hee

hee could stand vpp, the said Hugh answered not very well, whervppon hee rose vpp on his bed, and the said Babe bid him lye downe againe saying [ ] I haue nothing to doe with yow. And being asked the question whether shee doth Know or hath heard whether the said Babe hath putt any of the English to death since the Rebellion shee answered that she doth not Know nor hath heard of any And being demanded And she further sayth that some women of the Towne told the Examinant that the said John Babe was come to putt her father to death and beeing demanded who that woman was, shee Answered shee is dead. And further deposeth not,
