The examination of Nicholas Williams being aged thirty sea uen yeer s taken the last of Febr: 1652
The examinat being sworne sayeth that he and his freinds so soone as they heard of the breaking out of the Rebellion in the yeer [ 166 ] 1641; came from their dwelling house a mille and half distant from the Lurgan toune, and came to Sir Will. Brumleyes Castle together with many others; which Castle was after rendered upon Conditions; But that the sayd conditions were broken to them In that they should haue been convoyed safe to lisnegaruy, but they were stript and some killd. He further sayeth that he knowes not the names of those that kill{d} <Toole Mc Cane> any; Onely that Toole Mc Cane was he that commanded the partye An{d} <Rory Mc Cane> he the sayd Examinat sayeth, he thinks Rory Mc Cane was also there, for tha{t} he had a pretension of right to the Castle of lurgan
