<(2)> The Examination of Bryan Mc Carbery Og Mc Can sometime of the Barrony of o Neilam in the County of Ardmagh Aged 40 yeares or thereabouts taken before vs Geo. Talbott, & Roger Lyndon Esquires the 6t day of May 1653
Who saith that Sir Phillimy o Neile after hee had taken the fforts of Charliamount, Newry Monioy and Ardmagh, hee sent forth his warrants requireing the Cheife{s} of the Respective scepts in the Country about to gather all their Allyes & followers, that they might bee put vnde{r}Command in prosecution of their then designe in hand whe{re}vpon Captain Donnell Mc Can (since slayne at the Defeate giu{en} the Ireish at Litterkeny, was appoynted to command the M{c} Canns in Clancan, at which tyme this deponets ffather Carbary og Mc Can possesed himself of Mr Henery Stanaways house in Clancan, where the said Stanaway & his wife and Children were kept Prisoners till Sir Phillemy o Neile sen{t} orders, who sent for them to bee brought to Ardmagh about six weekes after, where the said Stanaway dyed as this Examinet heard. And saith that hee knew one John Burnly a tennant of Mr Stanawayes, but knows not what became of him, nor that hee knoweth Owen Mc Can nor Daniel Mc Carny, nor knowes of none that were Massacried, at Ardmagh, ClanCan or els where,
