The Examinacion of Anne Dawson taken this 26th of April 1653
<William Soyer slaine ffolly Duffe o Mellan the {mur}derer> Whoe being duly examined & Sworne Sayth that one ffolly duffe o Mellan tould this examined that he had killed her sonne William Soyer with a skeane, & threw him into the Callen Water; & that one Donel roe whose Sirname shee knoweth not <A> killed Robert Granger, Henry Hatsfield & John Soyre her husband & that the said Donel roe sent this Examined woord by one <B> Phelemie o Dewlin that he would not kill her husband John Soyre in her sight because he wisht her well, & this examined further sayth that the Phelemie o Dewlin tooke her sonn in law Robert <Robert Nicolson slaine Phill: o Deulin the murderer> Nicolson & stabbed him with a skeane before this Examineds face soe that he dyed and that the said Phelemie hanged another woman <C> whose name she knoweth not, which woman this Examined sawe afterwards hanging, and this Examined further sayth that shee <Mr James Maxwells wife drowned Edm: oge o Donelly the murderer> heard one Edmond oge o Donelly tell his wife one night that he that the said Edmond had drowned the wife of Mr James Maxwell, & his wife demanding why he did it, the said Edmond answeared that Sir Phelemie o Neile tould him that the said mr Maxwells wife was a Witch & that he neuer had good loocke after he once kissed her, & more sayth not.
