The Examinacion of William Codd Neare white howse Aged about 60 yeares, taken the 3d may 1653:
Saith That being at Lurgan in the County of Ardmah the first weeke of the Rebellion, A Party of the Irish (vnder the Commaund of Art Oge Maginis) came & burnt the towne of Lurgan & besidged the Castell, in which this Examinate was, but by An agreement there was a parley, & this Examinate was sent out of the <A> Castell as a pledg to the Irish. And was in there Campe a whole day, in which time, amongst them, hee beheld the Corpes of severall Inglish men murderred, Amongst the rest was One Cutt all to peeces, The body of Mr John Davis one of the Cheife Inhabitants of Lurgan hee likewise beheld lyeing naked which hee knew verry well, This Examinate desired, that the Corps might bee burryed, but was Answerred by ffurdorrah mc Ginnis thay should not, but more such sights should bee seene Ere Longe, And further saith that Toole mc Cann had Commaund as a Captain in that party of the Irish, And further saith not
