The Examination of William Carshan of Corbally in Lecale in the County of Downe Yeoman Adged 35 yeares or thereabouts taken before vs the 19th of May 1653
<A> Who being duely sworne and examined saith that in or about the Middle of January 1641 hee mett in Downepattrick with William Kimming the elder who tould this Examinent that the night before hee with others being in the Church of Ballea within three miles of Ballyhornan, there Came Art o Neile brother to Mr Bryan o Neile with a great nomber of presons in Armes and Pichforkes, And made Conditions that the said Kimming and the rest in his Company, should not any way suffer, if they would open the Church doore to him, yet presently after his coming into the Church, caused the said persons to bee all tied or bound together, and instantly sent them away in the night, And saith that he heareing from others, that the said persons were killed hee this deponent and others with him, went abroad two dayes after to search for them, but did not then find them, but the next day goeing forth againe they found them all dead, barbarously wounded with slashes and stobbs, on and in most parts of the their bodyes, within two miles from the Church, and that day caused them to be{e} buried, And further saith not
