The Examination of Robert Merryman of Ballyhornan in the County of Downe Gent Adged 72 yeares taken before vs the 18th of May 1653
Who being sworne and examined saith, that hee knowes Art alias Arthur o Neile, Brother to Sir Bryan รด Neile these 30 yeares past, And saith that the Murder committed <A> at or within 2 miles of Ballee Church, in the County of Downe (as hee heard it reported, soone after the begining of the Rebellion, was Committed, by Gerald Russell, the said Arthur o Neile, and others of the Ireish whose names hee remembers not; but by whome of that Company hee knowes not, And saith the said Arthur, was in Ballyhernan in a widdowes house, called Mary Nee Quillin where hee abided from Christmas last for the Space of 6 weekes or thereabouts. And saith that sometymes, the said Sir Bryans Lady, sent him some releife, as hee this deponet heard, And that sometimes in to Sir Bryans Absence, The said Arthur o Neile, did goe into Sir Bryans house of Ballyhernan And saith that the said Arthur had sent him from the said Sir Bryans house, a suit of gray frize cloathes, which cloathes this deponet saw on his back. And further saith not
