The Examination of Capt Patrick Russell of Welchestoune in lecale aged about thirty yeeres taken the 7th May 1653
Who being sworne sayeth that in the second yeere of the Rebellion in the month of May, on a Sabbath day in the Morning he this examinat was in his bed in Mr Merrimans his father in law his house, And that he heard a noyse about the house And afterward he heard say there was four Irishmen killed that morning; that the names of those men were, Thomas Rister <D> Richard Mc Dyne Patrick Mc Lynnen Patrick Mackeley;
This Examinat further sayeth hat about 9 or 10 dayes before Capt wool and his soldiers had brought in the foresayd foure men from about New castle beyond the strand of Dundrum; But upon what termes they were brought in he this examinat knoweth not But he sayeth they were not keept in Ardglasse prisonners as he this examinat beleeues, because the fryday before they were killed he heard that Capt Wool did agree with the sayd foure men to cutt sea wrack to make kelp; And that on saterday they did work accordingly
This Examinat further sayeth that he heard say that Edward Jackson

and will: Hamilton two of Capt Wools soldiers then, and now in prison; And one Norrice, were att the killing of the sayd four persons. And that the foresayd Jackson gaue the first blow to Thomas Rister, as the sayd Risters wyfe told this Examinat
And this Examinat further sayeth that he being come abroad that Morning saue two of the foresayd four persons lying killed [ ] heard by a place called the New worke And further sayeth not
