The Examination of Anny Mackelynen of Lecale aged about thirty yeers of taken the 7th May 1653
Who being sworne sayeth that in the second yeere of the Rebellion Capt Wool and his soldiers went and brought in from about New Castle beyond the strand of Dundrum Thomas og Rister Patr: Mc eleynen P Richard mc Dyne Patrick Mackeley who <f> had gone outt of lecale a yeere before for feare of their lyues as she this Examinat sayeth she being then wyfe to the sayd Thomas og Rister and of kindred to the rest This examinat further sayeth that the sayd four men were being w sett a worke by Capt Wool to cutt sea wrack which which they did accordingly. And that on a sabbath day in the morning they were all killed And she this Examinat sayeth they were killed by Capt Woolls soldiers but knoweth not particularly their names, But that Edward Jackson one of the sayd soldiers came into this Examinats H husbands house and gaue her husband the first strocke And that her husband [ ] broke out of his house and rune about the castle the sayd Jackson following him. And this Examinat sayeth that she saw Capt Wool upon the top of the Castle, Commanding the sayd Jackson to strick her sayd husband; using these words strick strick. And she this examinat further sayeth that Capt Woole took three cowes from the sayd four men when they were brought in as aforesaydAnny Mc elynen [mark] her marke
