The examinacion of John Butterfield of Newry in Com: Downe aged eight & fourty yeares taken vpon oath 27 May 1653
Who saith that he heard not of any murders in the Newry at the begining of the Rebellion except one William a dier who was hanged at the Gallowes of the Newry for attempting to run away to Dundalk in regard his house was puld down by the Irish as [ ] this examinant was informed by seuerall in the newry & doth belieue he was hanged by the orders of Donell oge Maginis being that he was Gouernor there at that time And d And further saith that one Henry Allen was Constable of the Newry at that time which this examinant belieues can relate the whole matter if he were examined & further sath not
