<A> The Examinacion of Shane McVickar McCormack of the parish of Culfaghtrim in the County of Antrim husbandman taken before vs the said 14th day of March 1652
Who being duely examined saith That he dwelt in the said parish of Culfaghkrim at the time when he heard that the Irish were makeing a stirr on the other side the Bann & when Coll Kiltaghs sonnes Allester McColl McDonnell & his brother Randell made a stirr on the Eastside the Ban{n} that he being a private man did not know or heare what was the caus{e} thereof, & saith that he never heard of or see any one killed, in any pl{ace} whatsoever neither did he see any Companies of men Scotch or {Irish} march through the Roote at any time, or any of the Scotch f{lee for?} their lives And being demanded why he & the Irish fled over Bann at May 1642 haveing neither seene or heard any hurt done by any of the Irish or himselfe. He saith it was for feare of {} McCallins Army which came vnto the Raghries & Landed a{t} Portbrittish & of Monroes Army which came downe the Bann side, He saith it was because therest of the Irish fled, and being asked why they fled, he saith he thinks because the Scotts had killed some of the Irish who were flying over the Bann And being demaunded if he see noe dead Corps of th men or woemen or Children in any place in his goeing vnto the Bannside he saith he did not see any dead body at all And further he saith not
