The examinaction of fferdoragh Magee of Ballyeeron in the Parish of Culfaghtrim in the County of Antrim Gent taken before vs the said 15th day of March 1652
Who being duely examined saith That he did not stirr from the place where he dwelt after the Murder at Portnaw, vntill the Scotch Army ca{me} into the Roote but staid at his owne & brother Donnells house to prese{rve} the Brittish who fled thither for succour. That he was not at any time present or lookeing on where any Brittish were murdered b{ut} he saith that once being at Ballycastle he see three boyes ly kill’d {} the house of Ballycastle & that alsoe some of the Scotts { } killed at the saltpanns & Portnagree & elswhere in the Cou{ntry} but by whom they or any of them were kill’d he knowes not { } further he saith that he was not at any Randevous of the {} or at any siege or storme of any Place held by the Brittish, A{nd} being demaunded why he beeing soe innocent would fly ov{er} the Bann when the Scotch Army came into the Roote, h{e} saith it was becawse he heard they killed all the Irish as they came all along, and for that the Scotts had kill’d 500 Irish or thereabouts in Island Magee whereof the most part were Magees And further he saith not
