The Examinacion of Geiles Kellsoe als Hill of Ballycastle in the County of Antrim Widdow taken before vs at Colerane the day & yeare first above said
<2:> Who being duely sworne & examined saith That about the 4th day of January 1641 being a day or two after the Masscre at Portnaw this Examinantes <A> husband Hugh Hill & her selfe Gilbert Gamill & Robert Gamill his sonne with others were goeing alongst the Coast about Ballycastle in the County of Antrim to seeke transportacion into Scotland for safety of their lives from the Irish rage heareing they were then killing all the Brittish And that Vggan McAwley & Dunkin McAwley of Gensesk, in Culfaghtrim Parish in the County of Antrim with seaven Irish men more whose names she knowes not came all together at the sea side neere Ballycastle aforesaid vpon this Examinante her said husband Hugh Hill

Hugh Hill & the said Gilbert & Robert Gamill & the rest of the Company being woemen & Children & the said Dunkin McAwley (the said Vggan & the other seaven being present) with a long skeine stabbed & slashed the Examinants husband Hugh Hill soe grievously as he dyed within five daies & the said Gilbert Gamill soe grievously that he dyed within three daies & the said Robert Gamill his son dyed instantly of the wounds he then receaved with the said skeine from the hands of the said Dunkin McAwley And further she saith not:
