The examinacion of Tho: Carroll of Kilcorg in Com: Antrim aged fifty foure yeares or thereabouts taken at Lisnegaru 14 May 1653
Who saith that concerning the murder whereof one Shane o Dealing is taxed for vizt for haueing a hand in the killing of one John Pew Hugh Williams & his wife George Brounnell & his wife this examinant saith that the said Shane o Dealling hathd not any hand therein but that it was one Brian moder o Quin with the asistance of James o Cullen Patt: McBrian Oge O Cawell who were the acters therein And the cause of this examinants knowledge is that he being an Inhabitant in Munioy at the begining of the Rebellion & also the rest mencioned to be slaine aforesaid This examinant saith that one day as he was walking in the streets of Munioy he saw the said Brian Moder O Quin with the rest of his company afore mencioned takeing the said John Pew & the rest alongst with them out of the towne but whither they were goeing this examinant did not know at that time vntill their returne back at which time he saw one Turlogh O Kellighan which went along with them & this examinant demanded of him what was become of the said Pew & the rest taken away as aforesaid Oh John heThe said Turlagh replyed they are all killed by the said Quin &c. & the reason of my goeing alongst [ ] with them was to saue the said John Pewes life being a frend of mine but I could not preuayle & he was slaine amongst the rest And presently after this examinant & the said Turlogh Kellighan agred both to goe & bury the said persons slaine which they did but this examinant saith that neither at the said Brian Moder o Quins goeing out of the towne with the said persons slaine as aforesaid nor at the said Brians returning was the said Shane o Dealing in their company And further saith not
