The Examinacion Elizabeth O Gormelly widow in Carrickfergus adged 34 yeares taken before vs 31th of May 1653
Who being sworne and examined, sayth that next day in the forenoone beinge Monenday after the greate Murders Committed in the Ileland Magee, aboute the end of December next after the begining of the Rebelion, shee sawe, Bryane Boy Magee sonne to one of the Magees of the sayd Ileland, called (as shee remembers) Donell MacArt Magee, passing nighest by her house, & then followed by a youth one of the Dromors of the Garrison of Carrickfergus sonne to Petty Slowen, who haueing overtaken the sayd Bryan Boy & haueing in his hand a Scotts dagger, wherewith hee stobd the sayd Bryan, vnder the right brest, and presently after gaue him another stobb with that dagger, into the right shouldier; and after that a third stobb, vnder the left brest and the sayd Bryan still runinge away towards the west mill in the Irish quarters or subiects of the sayd towne, was mett with, by John MacKeaone now in prison in Carrickfergus; who with a knotted Cudgell or staffe struck the sayd Bryan Boy Magee, on the head three severall tymes blowes, whereby the sayd Bryan ffell to the grownd and rored Exceedingly till hee there dyed; who was suddenly stript of his Cloath, And sayth that presently after, one John Nelson coming by, droue his sword, and run it throwe his neck & cutt the sayd Bryan throate, and haueing soe donn wiped his sword with the sayd Bryans shuirte, & treading in his blood, sayd I haue once trod Irish blood vnder my ffeete, And further sayth not
